Tools of Wicca
Theese tools are used in rituals to help increase concontration. You
can perform magic without them but if you are a beginner I highly
reccomend that you use tools. They don't have to be store bought
masterpeices they all can be made yourself or they can be bought
cheaply (( If you know what your doing )) Tools are somthing that
help a lot and help get you into the mindset of magic-working

The Pentacle
The pentacle is a circle-shaped peice of wood or metal with a five
pointed star on it. The pentacle is the symbol of earth in the ritual.
The pentacle can be used to draw away negitive energy from the
ritual or when you need it. (( That is the thing about tools you can use
them outside of rituals as well )) The pentacle is a female symbol I
have provided a picture of one below. You can make a pentacle
with some fimo clay shaped into a circle and then you inscribe the
star into it then bake. That is how I made mine.
The Altar
The altar is where all your tools are. An altar can be anything from a
circle of stones, a table, or a wooden box. The altar is your place to
work magic. On your altar there are typicaly candles, incense, an
anthame, a pentacle, a chalice, and a wand of some sort. Another
good thing to do for your altar is to put something festive on it during
the season in winter you might put some holly on it, in autum maybe
you could put a pumpkin on it. My altar is an old wooden chest i've
had for years it works great when I am done with the ritual I put all
my tools inside the chest.
The Athame
The Athame is a black-handled knife that is corresponds to the
element of Air. The Athame can be used to channle energy or
to cast a cirle. Most people don't really use there athame to cut
becuase they feel it might disrupt the power of the tool. The athames
main use is to focus energy. You can get a cheap athame at a store
and just buy a steak knife with a black handle but this is not good
for some and I can't blame them this is probably the most expensive
item on the tool list.
The Chalice
The Chalice is the a female tool of water. The chalice is used to hold
wine, (( or juice deppending on your age and what you like better ))
during a ritual the wine is sometimes charged with power so later it
can be used to seal the ritual. You can get a crystal cup for fairly
cheap anywhere some like to use a copper or silver cup but they
are a bit harder to find.
The Wand
The wand is like the athame in many ways. First they are both used
to cast circles and to move about energy. Second they both are male
tools. Third they each are pointed to foucus energy. The wand is
the Fire tool and also a male. A wand can be made of silver or wood
or any other substace. I made mine by cutting off a tree branch and
putting a crystal at the tip.
